For generations, wise healers have turned to the inner bark of the Ulmus rubra—the noble slippery elm— recognizing its remarkable affinity for nourishing, soothing and restoring the body's delicate mucosal lining.
Unlike harsh modern interventions, slippery elm works with the body. Its mucilaginous nature creates a healing gel when mixed with water, coating and soothing inflamed tissues from mouth to bowel. This is the way true healing begins—not by masking symptoms, but by restoring balance.
This has been a powerful herbal ally for me personally, when I was healing from chronic gut inflammation many years ago, I would add 1.5 teaspoons in a 330ml mason jar full of warm water, shake it and drink it 3 times a day. And when I was performing a detoxification protocol or a candida/parasite cleanse, I would mix this with activated charcoal, some bentonite clay, apple cider vinegar and some chia seeds (also known as a binder shake). This worked wonders during the dreaded die-off (herx) reactions.
If you're experiencing acid reflux, gastritis, ulcers, IBS, leaky gut, food intolerances ... etc I would strongly encourage that you to study and learn about this wonderful herbal medicine.
How to Use It Properly
The old ways matter. To prepare:
1. Mix 1 teaspoon of powder in warm water or herbal tea.
2. Stir well, let it thicken slightly, then drink ideally on an empty stomach.
3. For acute distress, take 2-3 times daily. For maintenance, once suffices.
A Warning for the Wise.
Not all slippery elm powders are equal. Seek wildcrafted or sustainably harvested sources—this tree has given much, and we must honor it. Avoid fillers or overly processed versions; true medicine should be pure and potent.
